Swan Bake - Edinburgh '17
After being nominated for a Brighton Fringe award for excellence in 2016, Second Sons took their flagship show "Swan Bake" to Edinburgh in 2017. Alex reprised his role as the erratic and domineering Father Rupert. 27 shows in 27 days at the C Royale venue in the heart of Edinburgh. It was a big step up from Seconds Sons' previous tours in length and workload but at the end of the month we had received loads of fantastic feedback from elated and sometimes quite shaken audience


Short Films
At the start of 2017 Alex worked on a series of short films with various Universities around London. Twelfth Night & Othello
Alex appeared again with Arrows & Traps for their Shakespeare rep season, playing the lost twin Sebastian in Twelfth Night and Montano in the Offie-nominated Othello. The Gospel According to Philip
Arrows and Traps produced their first work of new writing with the raucous, religious comedy "The Gospel According to Philip." Drawing inspiration from Monty Python's Life of Brian, Gospel retold the story of Jesus and his disciples with dancing, walnuts and a bottle of babycham. Alex played Paul, the self-loathing young disciple struggling between his own sexual curiosity and his desire to not spend eternity in hell. Macbeth
Alex returned to the New Wimbledon Studio with Arrows and Traps for a second time to play the coming-of-age Prince Malcolm in their production of Macbeth. The show starred David Paisley and long time arrow Cornelia Baumann as the infamous Mr. and Mrs. Macbeth and gained much credit for the gender-swapping in the show with both Duncan (Jean Apps) and Banquo (Becky Black) changed to women in a female majority production. Swan Bake
Second Sons Theatre Company took their debut show Swan Bake, written by company artistic director Samson Hawkins, on a short London fringe tour before heading to The Warren at The Brighton Fringe Festival. Alex played the maniacal, drug-addicted priest; Father Rupert. The show was well received, being nominated for the IYAF: Best Young Production award. Alex played the heartbroken young writer Konstantin in Fox and Chips' production of Anton Chekov's classic "The Seagull".
